The New Mind | Week 1: The Three M’s of the Mind

New year, new me. So we make resolutions, make a trip to the gym, and hope that things will go different this year. Yet here’s the thing—if you want to see real change this year, it starts with your mind. Today we’re talking about the three keys God uses to transform our minds.

Process, journal or discuss the themes of this article - here's a few questions to get the ball rolling...

Welcome to the Chaser–a few questions after the weekend service to start conversations and push a little deeper. Go on. Dive in.

  1. New Year, New Mind. Let’s get started with an easy one. We’ve all made New Year’s resolutions before. Say Geronimo, and jump in. Tell the story of your most spectacular resolution success or failure.

  2. Now let’s look ahead to 2019. What do you want to be different about you or your life? Remember, there is power in declaring it out loud. So take moment, then be bold and say it proud. (Remember, it’ll take Mentors, Motivation, and Momentum to get there.)

  3. Mentors - We don’t need our own personal Mr. Miyagi, just someone a few steps ahead of us. Think about what you just declared to your group. Who do you know that’s a few steps ahead of you in your growth area you could spend time with? (Help each other out! If you’re stuck, you may be surprised at the types of connections your group has.)

  4. Motivation - Time for 5 Whys. Have each person say again what they want to be different in their life. Then ask that person “why?” And after they answer, ask “why?” again. Four more times. Trust us, you’ll get to the root of the motivation.

  5. Momentum - Group workshop time. You’ve now heard everyone’s goal for 2019, and their WHY. That’s a big deal. Now help build some momentum. Take a few minutes with each person talking about how they can break a big goal into small, achievable steps. (And when it’s your turn on the hot seat, write the steps down. For the love.)

More from the Weekend

Pick Mentors, Motivation or Momentum and go after it in a big way this week. If you pick:

Mentors - read this and give it a try.

Motivations - There is power in saying that you want to change and why. Summarize your goal and your 5 Whys and go tell someone.

Momentum - Remember that break down exercise you just did? Yeah. Go do a step. This week.
